Courtney White
The other Otterton School photo that Robin has posted to his Photobucket (1906) has a little chap identified as Courtney White. The 1901 Census has a family of Whites living at Higher Pinn Farm, Otterton.
Head of Household was John White, b.c.1864, farmer on own account
Bessie b.c.1864, Colaton Raleigh, wife of John.
Hubert White b.c.1887
Edgar White b.c.1888
Eva White b.c.1895
Courtney White b.c.1896(?)
Ethel White b.c.1898
Dorothy White b.c.1901 (age 6 months)
Thomas White, b.c.1825, retired farmer, widower.(Father of John)
Where does this Thomas White fit in with the other Whites? Does anybody know?
Courtesy of Roz: "This Thomas White is the son of Thomas and Mary (Hayman)White, baptised at Otterton in 1823. In 1901 John was farming the same farm his Gtgt Grandfather was in 1750."
Looking at the 1891 Census adds a son, Bingley, b.c. 1885 and brings up another Courtney with a birth date of 1890. Both are definitely sons of John and Bessie, with appropriate siblings of the correct age. FreeBMD has both of these Courtneys being born, but no deaths. Was Bessie's maiden name Bessie Elliott?

I have uploaded to my photobucket, a couple of articles that appeared in the Exmouth Journal in March 1994 that refer to the school photo taken in Otterton in 1907. The notes were scribbled by my mother Verena May Bendall nee Pile whose mother was Lucy Catherine Northcott, one of the teachers.
Thomas Arthur Ham White b 1899 is my 3rd cousin twice removed and Verena (Vernie)Gertrude Northcott is my Great Aunt as is Minnie Lavinia Pile.
